During the pandemic, indigenous communities were vulnerable not only to COVID-19 but also to a different kind of virus: the spread of 'fake news' through WhatsApp. This misinformation was often propagated by foreign missionaries and pastors who discouraged immunization, making the job of health workers even more challenging.
To combat this problem, we launched a campaign that utilized the same techniques as fake news to spread the truth. By creatively using social media and messaging platforms, we were able to communicate accurate and helpful information to indigenous communities. Our goal was to empower individuals with the knowledge they needed to make informed decisions about their health, and we're proud to say that the campaign was successful in reaching and positively impacting many communities.
